Back to: Lesson: Prevent Chattering
CIRCUMSTANCE:
- We want grip and control of the outside ski in order to steer and turn our skis when we want. Balance against the outside ski prevents the ski from chattering. It’s a fine line of controlling the pressure that builds up under the ski in order to prevent chatter.
- Not enough balance against the ski or too much weight on the inside ski can cause Chatter.
SOLUTION:
- Try “roller blade” turns to feel the outside ski gripping and edging into the turn
- Skiing over bumps to feel all joints working. The goal is to stay in contact with the snow to manage the pressure and maintain better grip.
- Diagonal “On”, and “Off” edges across the slope. Feel better balance against the outside ski and more control of the grip. This will reduce or eliminate the chatter of the outside ski.
