Outside Pole Basket

  • When we talk about “outside” and “inside”, we’re referring the the skis being on the outside of the turn shape or inside of the turn shape. (Previously called downhill or uphill ski)
  • Sometimes, skiers have a tendency to lean inside too much and remove their balance against the outside ski where it should be.
  • To combat this and re-align the joints against the outside ski, drag the outside pole basket in the snow throughout the turns
  • Left Turn = Drag the right pole basket in the snow
  • Right Turn = Drag the left pole basket in the snow

MEASURE:
Inside ski pole baskets remains Off the snow in the turn

Notice the first 3 images where the skier’s outside pole basket is NOT dragging in the snow which in turns throws off their balance (too far inside).
