Back to: Hop Turns
- Think of a Hop Turn as a drill to recenter the skier correctly on the skis.
- The ultimate goal is to feel balanced in the centre of the ski.
- Do do this, we often refer to “3-points-of-contact” which is the bottom of the foot near the knuckle of the big toe (1st Metatarsal) + the front of the heel + The shin in contact with the tongue of the boot. (See diagram below)
MEASURE:
Spine remains rounded and skier uses lower joints to hop and land on the entire ski before the fall-line

Here, the skier is hopping from the previous turn into the fall line while remaining balanced over the skis
