Back to: Ski Tips Split
- While skiing parallel on a blue or black run, a skier will begin their turn by allowing the skis to flatten and direct towards the fall line.
- Sometimes, the skier starts the turn and their skis take a different path or diverge/split apart at the beginning.
- This is usually caused by the skier moving inside and putting too much weight on the inside ski OR the skier turns their upper body (due to lack of ability to turn with the lower body) and hence, the inside ski has more weight on it and it takes a different track or Splits from the other ski.
- It’s a simple sign that shows the skier need to steer or turn with the lower body more and remain balanced more against the outside ski.
MEASURE:
Skis remain Parallel at the beginning of the turn (Side by side and edges the same)
